This letter is, for once, about make-up and in particular lipsticks and eye shadows. But before getting to the heart of the matter, I wanted to tell you about an exhibition that I saw and which is unfortunately now over, but the works of this artist are so beautiful that I absolutely had to tell you about it. |

When my daughters were little, I tried to find them albums with beautiful illustrations because otherwise it was painful for me to read them stuff with ugly drawings (yes I know, what a bad mother !) My favourite albums were the Gaspard & Lisa stories because they were real oil paintings of two little dogs, one black and one white, and each illustration was full of charm and talent. A long time later, as I was writing a book on Parisian apartments with Marin Montaigut, I arrived in one of the most beautiful apartments I have ever seen, where I loved just everything as I rarely do. Suddenly while visiting the studio, I realised that I was with the authors of these albums, Anne Gutman & Georg Hallensleben ! Already in a state of total euphoria because of the beauty of the place, my enthusiasm increased fivefold and I explained that their work was totally part of the family, our ultimate reference ! Since then, we have been friends and it was out of the question for me to miss Georg's exhibition on rue Chapon. I saw large canvases painted in oil with Gaspard & Lisa, but also drawings and watercolours representing still lifes. I don't know when Georg's next exhibition will be, but, in the meantime, I strongly advise you to look at his magnificent albums.

I've always had a problem with lipstick : often once put on the lips, it doesn't stay on very long, and since I don't feel like touching up during the day, I forget about it. Also, if it's too fl ashy, I feel like Miss Piggy. On the other hand, coloured lips (not necessarily bright red) are good for the look. Today, many brands offer that tint the lip tint lipsticks that tint the lips in an almost natural way. I particularly liked this one for its pretty packaging, normal, Korean is beautiful !

More luxurious but makes the lips less dry : this Locked Kiss Ink from Mac will allow you to give big kisses to your lover without turning him into a wild strawberry. There are lots and lots of colours, but I chose the Poncy colour and the Emphatic one which look quite natural. At 3 p.m., the saleswoman had bright red lips despite putting on her lipstick at 9 a.m. and having had lunch !

I often find eye shadows too shimmery and ultimately difficult to apply when you're not a professional makeup artist. But I found a trick by buying this large NYX palette normally made for “contouring”. Far be it from me to try this Youtuber-Influencer technique, but I use these matte colours as eye shadows, which gives a discreet and clean make-up. Basically, if it's made for the face, you can put them wherever you want, right ?! But if you like it to shine a little, Revlon's Reloaded Palette Velvet Rose is pretty good too. |

That said, in summer, I recommend cream eye shadows which are easier to apply. At Mac again, there are Pro Eye palettes, and contrary to what you might think, you really don't need to be a pro to use them ! I like The Dame palette, but The Social Climber seems interesting to me too, plus there is khaki ! Anyway, I couldn't choose...

And since I'm on a roll ... this blush called So Natural sets the colour. I chose a very discreet one that will add a little sparkle but without giving the impression that Pollock has made me up.

Despite what you might think reading this letter, as a general rule, I prefer not to have too many beauty products... I'm running out of time and it's messy in the bathroom. But my friend Lydia, make-up teacher, a member of the beauty academy, told me about this kind of special eyebrow eyeliner which is quite amazing. With a very fine tip that delicately draws little hairs (yes, that's what it's all about !) to fill in small imperfections. Actually, I write this though I know I'll never do it !

And finally, I think we can safely award the prize of the packaging to the Mac brand. As I finish this letter, I realise that this is the 400th I am writing to you ! It's crazy, isn't it ?!!! I never could have imagined that I would write so many things to you and for so long. And above all that you would always be there, reading me carefully. So thank you, thank you so much for being so faithful every week and can't wait for the next 400 !
