This week as promised, I continue my little stroll around the Carreau du Temple. Well, of course, as I was walking, I got a little far from it but I did well because I spotted some pretty places ! |

All Parisians know the Marché des Enfants Rouges, but for my friends visiting Paris, I recommend that you go there and have a look. Of course, you can find everything you're supposed to have in a market, but on top of that it is covered (so you can buy your leeks in any weather) and it's open every day, except Monday. But what makes it so special is all these little bars where you can have a drink or a little snack. The atmosphere is ultra warm and deserves attention even if you haven’t planned to make ratatouille. Right out of the market (near rue de Beauce), there is a restaurant, Les Enfants Rouges, ultra refined and famous which serves a cuisine… from the market. |

I discovered this Japanese store, Dejima, quite by chance and I am very happy because it is lovely. There are Japanese cooking utensils such as the lovely tamagoyaki pan (what do you mean, don't you know it ??!), kits, notebooks, tiny rice wax candles tiny tote bags, crockery, very cute cuddly toys and even bath stools... but what is remarkable is that these objects are made by Japanese craftsmen in collaboration with artists from all over the world. The cups are, for example, made of porcelain and the designs are handmade by Amélie Fontaine. The proof that there is nothing like mixing ! |

Just opposite, at the Maison Léandre you will find everything you are looking for and even what you are not looking for. There are plenty of very eco-friendly household products, washable sponges, charcoal sticks to purify water, tools, light bulbs, brushes, knives and even Dim
Sum (which you will buy beforehand at Picard ) and that will pass you off as a genius cook to your children.

Monsieur Paris is a jewellery brand that I have known for a long time. All their creations are made in a Parisian workshop and the models are available either in 18-carat gold, vermeil or silver collections that are therefore rather affordable. In short, if you are looking for a gift for Mother's Day, you will definitely find something, their shop is located a few metres from the Marché des Enfants Rouges.

On my way, I came across the Thai restaurant, Ya Lamai, as it was four o'clock in the afternoon, I didn’t stop there for lunch, but because I found the decor particularly pretty and I thought it might inspire us. For example, instead of piling up your stocks of bottles and canned goods in your pantry, you might as well arrange them nicely and ostensibly. Same for the dishes, arranged on shelves instead of being hidden in cupboards, quite nice too. I also found the very disparate furniture lovely. I don't know if the food is good, but with such a successful decor, I would be surprised if it wasn’t. If you go there before me, will you tell me ?

Throughout my walk, I was amazed by these old stores names painted directly on building facades. I find it so charming and I think that unfortunately today it would probably be impossible to do. And yet, it's so much prettier and greener than a big, ugly neon sign. In the neighbourhood, there are also plenty of lovely storefronts that immediately make you want to enter the store. These are often old shop fronts that have been nicely restored. To me, this is what keeps the soul of a neighbourhood alive. Too many modern storefronts in garish colours distort the streets and though I don’t want to be seen as an old reactionary, I think it’s a shame.

Next week, I will tell you about another place discovered completely by chance (I definitely worship serendipity), but which is located in another district of Paris. You'll see, I liked it so much that I took tons of photos... I wish you a very nice week and I look forward to seeing you next Thursday.
